JL Audio has launched WakeSub(tm), an innovative hidden subwoofer technology that complements the JL Audio tower speakers on boats. WakeSub(tm), which emits low-frequency audio in the boat’s wake area, transforms the music experience for those who are towed behind or surfing behind the boat.
Two JL Audio enclosed subwoofer systems are part of the WakeSub(tm). They are hidden from view and do not interfere with passenger space. The tuned ports produce low frequency sound waves through hidden enclosures and apertures at each end. As you ride behind the boat, or surf behind it, you will feel engulfed in powerful, deep bass.
We pride ourselves in working closely with boat builders to design audio systems that are durable and perform well. Ora Freeman from JL Audio, Director of OEM Sales North America, stated that WakeSub(tm) extends the legendary JL Audio sound to the boat’s passengers and the wakes and waves. Although tower speakers can project a wide range of sound behind the boat they are unable to produce the same high-impact and low frequency response as dedicated subwoofers. WakeSub(tm), was designed to achieve exactly this without the need to attach bulky subwoofers to the tower.
WakeSub(tm), which is designed to protect the system against the elements, has several features. For example, the self-draining design in case water enters the ports’ apertures. JL Audio was granted U.S. Patent 10-362,389 for its WakeSub(tm).
JL Audio’s WakeSub(tm), a feature-rich source unit, powerful amplifiers, subwoofers, and enclosed tower speakers have been specifically engineered for marine use. It was designed to be integrated into boats as early as possible in the design process. Nautique Boats was the first boat manufacturer that integrated this technology as an option in the Studio Elite sound package on the all-new Super Air Nautique G23 Paragon and G25 Paragon boats.
JL Audio Unveils the Largest Marine jl audio Subwoofer To Date
Miami, FL – February 13, 2020: JL Audio announced today the 12-inch M7 marine submarine subwoofer with infinite baffle operation. This subwoofer will be the company’s flagship marine subwoofer. The M7 can handle twice as much power as JL’s powerful 10-inch M6 subwoofers. It also has a greater woofer excursion that any other JL Audio marine submarine subwoofer. This subwoofer has 2.25 times as much air displacement potential than its smaller counterpart. This gives you an additional output power of over 6 decibels. While all this extra output power can be fun, there’s more to it than just sheer power. The M7 subwoofers have been designed to reproduce powerful, high-impact bass with low distortion. This will amaze listeners with its sound quality, balance, and depth.
The M7 uses the same grille design as the M6 marine speakers. They can be integrated seamlessly into any boat to provide powerful bass. There are two types of grilles available: the “Classic”, which has an all-white slat design, and the “Sport”, which has a split-spoke design. Gloss White and Gunmetal/Titanium dual metal finishes are available for the latter. Transflective(tm), JL Audio’s RGB LED illumination technology, is available on all M7 subwoofers. It provides a striking lighting effect with no reflections or hot spots.

The M7 subwoofers are now part of the extensive JL Audio product line, which was built in Miramar Florida, using components from its global supply network.

It features a small, mount-anywhere design and an easy to use rotary knob that allows you to adjust the intensity and color of the speakers’ illumination.
